Interviewee profile: Jin Lusong, born in 1940, is a native of Tumen City, Yanbian, Jilin Province, and is of Korean nationality. In 1972, he joined the Institute because his former work unit, Beijing Biological Experiment Center, was merged into the Institute of Biophysics. He is mainly engaged in the research and development of ultracentrifuges, and has won the Major Achievement Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the National Science Conference Award, and the second prize of Jilin Province Science and Technology Achievement Award. Won 2 Chinese invention patents and 4 utility model patents. Since 1997, he has enjoyed the special allowance of the State Council.
Interview: The Institute of Biophysics is about to celebrate its 60th anniversary. We plan to interview the old scientists and leaders of the institute to collect vivid historical stories of the institute. You are an expert in the development of centrifuges, and I very much hope that you can tell the historical story of the development of centrifuges.
Jin: In 1963, I graduated from Changchun Institute of Optics and Mechanics (the full name is Changchun Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, now Changchun University of Science and Technology).
After graduating from the mechanical major, it will be assigned by the whole country to the Beijing Biological Experiment Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the "experimental center").
The newly established experimental center is an institute-level unit, and Mr. Shi Luji is the director. There were 7 college graduates assigned that year, and I was the first to report. When I reported, it was in the biology department office.
Ge Junjie, the party and government leader of the experimental center, is the director of the biology department. There is also Wu Wei, who just passed away earlier this year.
I came to report on August 21, 1963, before the other graduates came. The executives didn't come either. So before I reported, there were only two people in the experimental center, and I was the third.
